Dr. Vicenç Acuña is a research scientist at the Catalan Institute for Water Research (ICRA) in Girona, Spain. His research focuses on the ecology and biogeochemistry of rivers and streams, especially waterways that do not flow year-round. He conducts field and lab experiments on the effects of multiple stressors on those rivers and streams and other freshwater ecosystems. His work has focused on aquatic ecosystem services and implementation of river basin management and river restoration. He spent time in residence at SESYNC collaborating with SESYNC Director Margaret Palmer and SESYNC postdoctoral fellow Albert Ruhi.
